Counselling for Depression in South West London, Colliers Wood, Mitcham, Tooting

Depression is a common mental disorder. It involves a depressed mood or loss of pleasure or interest in activities for long periods of time. Depression is different from regular mood changes and feelings about everyday life. It can affect all aspects of life, including relationships with family, friends and community.

Understanding Depression: Finding Support and Healing

Depression is a common yet serious mental health condition that can affect all aspects of life. It often involves a persistent low mood or a loss of interest in activities that once brought joy. Unlike typical mood changes, depression can last for weeks or even longer, and it can significantly impact your relationships with family, friends, and the community.

When you’re experiencing depression, everyday tasks can feel overwhelming, and at times, life may seem hopeless. It’s important to understand that depression is not a sign of weakness, nor is it something you can simply "snap out" of. It’s a complex condition that often requires long-term treatment.

The good news is that most people find relief through a combination of medication, psychotherapy, or both. Psychotherapy offers a supportive space to:

  • Explore life events contributing to your depression and work toward understanding, adapting, or accepting these situations.
  • Set realistic, achievable goals for the future, even when it feels difficult.
  • Identify negative thought patterns or behaviors that may be deepening feelings of hopelessness and helplessness.
  • Build coping skills to manage current symptoms and help prevent future episodes of depression.

If you’re struggling, you don’t have to face it alone. With the right support, you can start feeling better and begin your journey to healing and recovery.

Counselling for Anxiety in South West London, Colliers Wood, Mitcham, Tooting

Anxiety is essentially our body's alarm system. It kicks in when we perceive something as threatening or stressful. Normally, it's a useful tool,it keeps us safe and motivated. But when anxiety sticks around too long or shows up for no real reason, it can start messing with daily life.

Understanding Social Anxiety and General Anxiety: When Stress Becomes Overwhelming

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety is the body’s natural alarm system. It triggers when we perceive something as threatening or stressful, acting as a protective mechanism. Normally, anxiety is helpful—it keeps us safe, alert, and motivated. However, when anxiety lingers for too long or arises without a clear cause, it can start interfering with daily life, impacting your relationships, work, and overall well-being.

Whether you're struggling with social anxiety, generalized anxiety, or anxiety-related to specific situations, it’s important to recognize when this natural response becomes overwhelming. With the right support and techniques, you can regain control, manage your anxiety, and reduce its impact on your life.

Grief is natural response to loss. It’s the emotional suffering we feel when something or someone we love is taken away from us. Any loss can cause grief, and whatever your loss, it's personal to you. We experience grief in our own unique ways. There is no wrong or right way to grieve, and unfortunately, there is no quick fix. Grief is one of the hardest parts of the human experience. It looks and feels different for everyone, and it’s hard to know how to cope when there’s no one right way. You may not always feel like you know how to grieve, but your body does. When someone dies, you might experience many losses.

In grief and bereavement therapy, my approach centers around creating safe and compassionate space for clients to process their emotions, explore their thoughts, and find meaning in their loss. Whether you are struggling with denial, anger, guilt, or feelings of emptiness, my therapy sessions are designed to help you process your emotions, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and find renewed sense of purpose and meaning in life.

Part of grieving is about recognizing what you have lost, and loss comes with many changes
